Jesse James Bullard (2018 – 2020)
Isaac Bullard was arrested for the death of his son, who was about to celebrate his second birthday. He pled guilty to driving under the influence of drugs, vehicular homicide, child abuse, and careless driving causing death. Surveillance footage from a neighboring home showed Bullard and Jesse walking around the vehicle in the driveway. It then showed Bullard backing out of the driveway and backing over Jesse. Bullard came back 14 minutes later, picked up Jesse, and got into the truck and left.
Trying to save his son’s life, he took Jesse to the fire station, but Jesse was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
Jessie’s father admitted to using a “dab” of cannabis in the morning. The police investigation found 79 marijuana plants, over 100 pounds of marijuana, and an “elaborate closed-loop” butane hash oil extraction lab to make cannabis concentrate. In the front room of Bullard’s residence there was “a child’s sleeping area made out of a cardboard box.
Tamlin and Jesse lived in Texas, but she reluctantly let Isaac have visitation with her husband, who was living in Colorado. Tamlin was in the process of divorcing her husband. She said, “Isaac loved him very much, just not enough to put his weed and dabs aside to care for our son like he promised.” She recalled how Isaac would get up with Jesse in the morning when he knew Tamlin had a difficult
night.
“There are so many things that made him a good father, but his priority for weed made him the most horrible man alive. He put his high before our son. My heart is in heaven now. That baby was my entire world, and Isaac took his life. Jesse was the most handsome and amazing boy anyone had ever met. He was so kind and sweet and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. His smile would just warm your soul. He loved everything, nature, and animals. He has touched so many people. So many people’s
lives changed because of him. I just wish that Isaac’s life would have changed because of him. But it didn’t. My boy’s story will be known. I think that God brought him to us to bless our lives for such a short time. Then He realized Jesse was just too perfect for this cruel world and brought him
home.”
