Teen driver charged in fatality had smoked marijuana before crash
The 17-year-old Mequon girl charged in the traffic crash that killed her friend had marijuana in her bloodstream, records show.
Madeline Kudlata was charged Thursday with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle in the September rollover crash that killed Sydney Tabakin a fellow Homestead High School senior.
A prosecutor and a lawyer representing Tabakin’s family in a civil suit would not comment Thursday on the results of toxicology tests. Results released Friday by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, which investigated the crash, showed Kudlata had no alcohol in her blood, just traces of THC, the main active chemical in marijuana.
