Tests Showed Alcohol, THC In Driver Of I-94 Trooper Crash
GREEN OAKS, IL — Dan Davies, the 44-year-old man authorities said was driving the wrong way on I-94, just east of the IL-176 exit when he hit Illinois State Trooper Gerald Ellis head-on March 30, had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of the crash, NBC 5 reported.
According to the news report, the Lake County Coroner’s Office received reports last week showing Davies blood alcohol level was .169 at the time of the crash. NBC 5 said according to the reports, the tests also showed the presence of THC (active ingredient in marijuana), and the prescription medication Promethazine, a drug used to relieve allergic reactions and at times common cold symptoms, and that alcohol can exaggerate the drug’s side effects.
